This guide walks you end-to-end from signup to your first batch of sent DMs.

1. Create your account

Go to outpulse.app/signup. You can sign up with:
  • X account (recommended — connects your X account in the same step)
  • Google account
  • Email and password
If you sign up with email, check your inbox for a verification link before continuing. Google and X signups skip this step.
After verifying, you’ll land on the onboarding flow.

2. Name your workspace

Your workspace groups your monitors, campaigns, leads, ICP, tone profile, and team members. The default name is “My Workspace” — rename it to match your product or brand. You can create additional workspaces later for separate products or X accounts.

3. Connect your X account

Outpulse needs access to your X account to scan profiles and send DMs on your behalf.
X Premium is strongly recommended. X delivers DMs from non-Premium accounts into a hidden “Message Requests” folder that most users rarely check. With Premium, your DMs land in the prospect’s primary inbox with a push notification — significantly improving open rates. Outpulse works without Premium, but results will be limited.
1

Click 'Connect X account'

You’ll be redirected to X’s OAuth authorization page.
2

Authorize Outpulse

Grant the requested permissions. Outpulse needs read + write + DM scope to scan and send on your behalf.
3

Return to onboarding

You’ll be redirected back automatically. Your handle and avatar appear as confirmation.
You can connect more accounts later from Settings → Connected accounts. Each workspace holds one X account. Workspace limits depend on your plan: Solo = 2 workspaces, Growth = up to 10, Agency = unlimited.

4. Set up your ICP

Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) tells Outpulse who you’re trying to reach. The AI uses it to score every discovered profile. Fill in at minimum:
  • Product name and description — what your product does and who it’s for
  • Target job titles — e.g. “Head of Marketing”, “Founder”, “Growth lead”
  • Pain points — problems your product solves
  • Keywords — terms your ICP would use when describing the problem you solve
The more specific you are, the more accurate the scoring. → Full ICP setup guide

5. Set up your tone profile

Paste 3–5 of your own posts from X. Outpulse uses these to learn your writing style — sentence length, tone, vocabulary, emoji usage.
Use posts where you’re engaging with someone, not just broadcasting. Conversational posts train the AI better than announcements.
→ Full tone profile guide

6. Create your first monitor

A monitor finds people on X. Pick one of two scan modes:
  • From an Account — scans an account’s followers, following, or both. Good when you know an account whose audience matches your ICP (a competitor, a community leader, a relevant brand).
  • From a Post — collects everyone who replied to one or more specific tweets. Good when a single thread is full of people you want to reach.
Set bio keywords to filter the pool — e.g. CEO, SaaS founder, B2B — and a sensible follower range. The narrower your filters, the better your campaigns will perform. → Full monitors guide

7. Wait for leads to arrive

Outpulse begins scanning right after you save the monitor. Leads stream into the Leads page as they’re discovered, and AI fit scores appear once scoring catches up. Most monitors produce their first usable batch within an hour. → Leads page

8. Run your first campaign

Once you have a few hundred leads in a monitor:
1

Go to Campaigns → New Campaign

Give it a name like “First batch — SaaS founders”.
2

Pick the monitor as a source

Select the AI score threshold (start at 7) and click Import AI-curated.
3

Generate drafts

Click Generate Drafts in the campaign header. Each draft costs 0.25 credits. Drafts appear card-by-card as they finish.
4

Review

Read every draft for the first batch. Edit or regenerate any that miss the mark. Use the Context button to add campaign-specific instructions for the AI.
5

Send

Click Send DMs. Outpulse paces the batch with human-like delays, enforces your daily caps, and only sends inside your active hours. 5 credits per successful send.
→ Campaigns guide

9. Track replies in the Outbound Tracker

Every sent DM appears in the Inbox (Outbound Tracker). Outpulse doesn’t poll X for replies — click View Chat on X on any thread to continue the conversation natively. Update the thread’s pipeline status manually as each prospect responds. → Outbound tracker

A note on compliance

Outpulse helps you reach high-intent prospects efficiently — but you remain responsible for how you use it. X treats automated DMs to users who haven’t engaged with you first as unsolicited outreach, which can lead to account restrictions. Our strong recommendation for new users:
  1. Use AI-curated import at threshold 7+ for at least your first two campaigns
  2. Read every draft in the first batch — edit anything that doesn’t sound like you
  3. Stay at the default daily cap (30 DMs / day) until you’ve validated reply quality
  4. Use bio keyword filters on every monitor — never run a campaign against an unfiltered pool
This protects your account and leads to better results: outreach that’s been reviewed converts better than bulk auto-sends.

You’re set up

From here, your typical weekly flow:
  1. Top up monitors as needed (add new target accounts or tweet URLs)
  2. Run a campaign once you have a worthwhile batch of new leads
  3. Generate drafts, review, send
  4. Check the Outbound Tracker for replies and update pipeline status
